Staircase, landing and study area

The oak and glass staircase, with recessed LED accent lighting, ascends to the First Floor landing.  A study/workspace nook leads off the landing, offering a convenient ‘office away from home’, if emails or Zooms are unavoidable.

There are ample power sockets and USB outlets for computers, iPads, phones and other electronic equipment, not just in this area but throughout the property.

The visual artists and craft makers collection

The landing and study area also functions as a gallery space, providing a focal point for a carefully curated portfolio of artwork, ceramics and stained glass art by North East artists, which is also on display throughout the property, forming an integral part of the interior design.

Works by the renowned ceramic artist Anne James are also showcased. Anne is one half of the couple who own of the property, along with her husband Alan. She works from a solar-powered studio in their nearby house.

Some items of furniture have been bespoke made for Warksburn Old Church, including lights and console tables in yew and walnut by Simon Denton, which are distinguished by delicate fretwork echoing the lead framing of the stained glass windows.  Simon’s works provide a contemporary counterpoint to a number of vintage and antique pieces which are placed throughout the building to provide both aesthetic interest and practical usability.

In the evening light, the reflections generated by the glass balustrades and the staircase produce some astonishingly symetrical effects.
