Front Entrance Porch

Original 1875 double church doors open into a porch, with restored Victorian windows.  Sheltered from the weather in the porch, you gain access to property by the main front door. This is opened either by using any of the following: the keypad; the access code provided with your booking; or by simply touching your phone or smart watch on the sensor in the door itself, provided you have downloaded the app link emailed with your booking.

The sheer thickness of the main front door lets you know you’re now entering the super-insulated ‘thermal envelope’ of the Passivhaus interior.

Entrance Hall

Upon entering, you find yourself in the Ground Floor entrance hall.  To your right, an oak and glass staircase leads up to the First Floor, to your left you’ll find the door to the Ground Floor bedroom and its en suite bathroom.  You’ll also immediately notice the super-sized triple glazed windows, which form an essential part of the energy-efficient interior throughout the property, but which also allow uninterrupted sight of the Victorian original windows. These were all restored to pristine condition in 2023, highlighting subtle stained glass detailing around their outer edges.

Throughout the entire Ground Floor , all the original Victorian lancet windows have been retained, their lime-rendered recesses and original stone arches showcased behind the triple glazed Passivhaus windows. These modern windows both protect the unique 19th Century glass and insulate the property to 21st Century levels of warmth, comfort, and energy efficiency.

Straight ahead along the hall leads you through to the main open plan living space, where the kitchen, dining and living spaces are located.
