Yesterday afternoon was one of those glorious days of autumn sunshine. With the sun low in the afternoon sky, that’s perfect conditions for the stained glass windows at the west end of Warksburn Old Church. The close up face at the top of this post represents Lady Helen Norah, wife of Sir George Barclay Bruce, in one of the feature windows by the eminent Victorian stained glass masters, Charles Eamer Kempe. The image below represents their daughter, Anne Louisa.

It’s a proud moment for us that this formal record of the building, and its independently assessed achievement of the Passivhaus EnerPHit standard for retrofit projects, enables this unique home to take its place on this register of some of the most innovative and efficient buildings in the world.

It is a great pleasure to see all the hard work of the project team rewarded with this official confirmation that this truly unique place to stay now meets the ‘gold standard’ benchmark for energy efficient buildings. We are delighted to announce that all the main interior spaces at Warksburn Old Church have now been completed, bringing Anne’s interior design vision to life, within the ultra-efficient Net Zero building which has been Alan’s major focus.
A major update of the website has also been completed, which now has the detailed images of the completed interiors in all the rooms, and a 3D walkthrough of the finished property.
We look forward to welcoming the first guests from 24 September 2024.
